Delicate Fortress Creations
We have the privilege of participating in a fundraiser through a website called Delicate Fortress Creations. It is a one day fundraiser on November 5th (this coming Monday). If you make a purchase through their website on that day and use the promo code CROCKETT when you check out they will donate 30% to us. They have some super cute items and support fair trade so if you have some Christmas shopping that you need to do or if you just want to purchase something for yourself, please check it out and think about making your purchase on November 5th using our promo code. My favorite so far is a tote made from recycled Indian saris:
You can check out the website at: http://www.delicatefortress.com/

updates/31 party fundraiser
We are pressing through our home study paper work. We will have our orientation meeting in late June and then start our home visits after that.
Our yard sale at the Civic Center was no good. Made about $100 profit after subtracting the cost to rent the booth. It was a lot of time an effort to set it up so that was a little depressing. We then received an email about the money we owe for our home study. Originally we thought it would be $2000 up front but we found out in the email that we have to pay for our post adoption visits up front too. Which brings the amount owed to $3200. More depression. To top it off, I took some of the remaining things to Once Upon a Child after the yard sale and the money I made from it was stolen out of my wallet that I left in my Jeep overnight (dumb blond moment). I had to (and still do) remind myself that God is bigger and he will provide.
Our next fundraising endeavor is a 31 party. A sweet, sweet friend from our church is a consultant and offered to donate all the commissions that she would get from the party toward our adoption (25%). Yay! The party is next Thursday May 31st at 7pm. If you can't come to the party but would like to order something you can do that here.

baby steps forward... :)
It feels like things are starting to get moving now! All of this is going in the mail today:
I am really excited because it has been hanging over my head for a few weeks now. We were having trouble coming up with our first payment ($2416.67) so we were waiting to hear if we would qualify to apply for an interest free loan through our agency and the ABBA fund. We got an email last week that we were approved to apply for this and to go ahead and send our contract in with whatever payment we are able to make at this time. So here we go!
We are working on the paperwork now for the loan. We are hoping they will allow us enough to cover our first 3 payments of $2416.67. That will give us more time to raise that money! It will have to be paid back before we can travel to Ethiopia.
Speaking of raising money, we will soon be selling T-shirts through Adoption Bug. They are setting up our website now and it will hopefully be up and running by the end of the week.
I am also working on a Pampered Chef/31/Scentsy party for April or May to raise funds as well. I will hopefully have a date soon!
We also plan on having a yard sale this spring. If you have anything you would like to donate to that let me know! We will be glad to come to your house and get it off your hands! :)
